Five things we learnt from New York Fashion Week

What’s in store for Autumn 2015.

Polo necks are so in. The rolled necked jumpers of the 60s and 70s are back in full force, as seen in the shows of Alexander Wang and Tommy Hilfiger. Also, standing proudly out from the crowd was Ruxx favourite Victoria Beckham’s take on the polo neck, oversized but still structured and something we would love in our wardrobe.

The catwalk has finally succumbed to the power of the high-street. There was a lot of street-style on the catwalk at NYFW, from faux-fur to sporty details. Tommy Hilfiger, Opening Ceremony and Coach all had the hallmark look of the street, great news for all of us.

Normal people’s hair problems are now fashionable. DKNY and Alexander Wang proved this with their ‘hat hair’ look on the runway. Not sure how we feel about this but it is definitely easier to achieve than glossy locks.

Autumn/Winter’s footwear will be chunky and practical. We certainly loved the idea of Coach’s shearling lined biker boots to keep warm and easy to walk in. These looks reminded us of a retro North of England, where a practical long lasting shoe was key- something we are proud to support.
